Results from the European Cadet Circuit Weekend
The European Cadet Circuit delivered an exciting weekend of fencing across three cities: Novi Sad (Serbia), Riga (Latvia), and Konin (Poland). With all three weapons represented, the young talents showcased their skills in both individual and team competitions.
Novi Sad: Cadet Circuit for Epee
In Novi Sad, Hungary demonstrated exceptional skill in the epee category. Aron Petrovszki of Hungary claimed victory in the men’s individual event, defeating Sweden’s Filip Zimmerman in the final. Benjamin Makai, also from Hungary, and Riccardo Magni of Italy shared the bronze. In the women’s individual event, Linnea Eriksson from Sweden secured the gold, with Hungary’s Lotti Horvath taking silver. The bronze medals went to Hanna Terhes and Luca Papp-Szilagyi, both representing Hungary.
In the team events, Hungary’s men’s team, featuring Donat Kiss, Lenard Koch, Benjamin Makai, and Aron Petrovszki, emerged victorious. They were followed by another Hungarian team, Hungary 3, in second place, while Germany secured third. The women’s team competition saw Ukraine clinch the top spot, with Sweden 1 finishing second and Romania taking third.

Riga: Cadet Circuit for Foil
Riga saw outstanding performances in the foil category. France’s Mahel Boumaza triumphed in the men’s individual event, defeating Lauro Falchetto of Austria in the final. Roland Grosz from Hungary and Thomas Esteban Aguinaga Procel of Ecuador shared the bronze. In the women’s individual foil, Gili Kuritzky from Israel took gold, while Daniella Weng Yan Tang of Singapore earned silver. Poland’s Danuta Tym and Karolina Makowska secured bronze medals.
The men’s team competition was dominated by Hungary, who took the gold medal, with France finishing second and their second team, France 2, claiming bronze. On the women’s side, Poland 1 claimed victory in the team event, followed by Czechia in second place and Australia in third.

Konin: Cadet Circuit for Sabre
In Konin, Turkey’s Poyraz Kumuk emerged victorious in the men’s individual sabre competition, defeating Italy’s Andrea Tribuno in the final. The bronze medals went to Yigit Ayaz of Turkey and Christian Avaltroni of Italy. Italy dominated the women’s individual sabre as Francesca Romana Lentini secured gold and Vittoria Mocci earned silver. Germany’s Mirja-Lena Haack and Bulgaria’s Ralitsa Gadzheva shared the bronze.
In the men’s team sabre event, Italy’s team clinched gold, with Turkey taking silver and Italy’s second team earning bronze. For the women’s team event, Hungary captured gold, followed by Germany in second place and Poland in third.

Looking Ahead: Upcoming Competitions
After an exhilarating weekend of competitions, the European fencing community is now turning its attention to the next series of events. On February 1, the U14 European Circuit in Espoo, Finland, will feature epee competitions for both boys and girls. Paris, France, will host foil events for boys and girls on February 1 and 2, as part of the U14 European Circuit. Finally, on February 2, Ub, Serbia, will welcome young epee fencers for another round of individual competitions. These upcoming tournaments promise more excitement and opportunities to witness rising stars in action.
